Fire Emblem: Awakening Heroes and Captain Falcon Join Super Smash Bros

Three of the main heroes from Fire Emblem: Awakening take on Captain Falcon in this awesome character announcement trailer.

Lucina, Robin and Captain Falcon have all been announced by Nintendo as the latest combatants to join the roster of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Fans of Fire Emblem: Awakening should recognize Lucina as Prince Chrom's time-travelling daughter from the future. Hopefully, one of her alternate costumes includes that awesome mask Lucina used to cover up the mark of Naga. The name Robin should be a little more surprising to Fire Emblem fans -- it's the default name of the protagonist. Robin acts a proper tactician, intertwining both sword techniques and spells into his combat repertoire. Nintendo also threw in the female version of the character as well.

Surprisingly, we get to see Chrom join the fight. This would have meant that the number of androgynous, blue-haired fighters from big swords from Fire Emblem have doubled, but we believe Chrom isn't another character to play. Based on the video, we believe he is a part of Robin's Final Smash, since both characters are seen attacking Falcon in rapid unison. Also, Lucina, Robin and Falcon were added to the character rosters of the official Super Smash Bros. website, Chrom was unfortunately not.

Super Smash Bros. gets one heck of an awakening on Oct. 3 when it launches for Nintendo 3DS. Expect the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros. to launch sometime this holiday season.
