iOS Games Well Represented at 2013 Independent Games Festival
If you haven't heard of the Independent Games Festival yet, it's time to get clued in. The festival, which has been going strong since it was established back in 1998, has been the vanguard of the indie games industry, giving out awards to many groundbreaking games that have come our way in the past couple of years.
They just recently released the full list of their finalists and the winners will be announced at the Game Developer's Conference this March. Many of these titles were iOS games. In addition to a number of Honorable Mentions, here's a quick look at some of the notable finalists.
Bad Hotel by Lucky Frame - Finalist, Excellence in Audio
Knights of Pen & Paper by Behold Studios - Finalist, Student Showcase
LiquidSketch by Tobias Neukom - Finalist, Technical Excellence
Spaceteam by Henry Smith (Sleeping Beast Games) - Finalist, Nuovo Award
Super Hexagon by Terry Cavanaugh - Finalist, Excellence in Design
Year Walk by Simogo - Finalist, Excellence in Visual Art
Will any of these games truly take the next step and become mega indie hits alongside games like Minecraft, Braid, and Fez? We'll just have to wait and see. Especially for highly-anticipated games like Year Walk that have yet to be released. But rest assured, we'll keep you updated about what happens with these titles.
