While the world waits breathlessly for Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, the folks at Dennation Games must have felt our desperation for mayhem, so they've bestowed on us a small gift: the original Hotline Miami is coming to PlayStation 4.

The announcement was made on the PlayStation Blog, where Devolver Digital head Fork Parker delivered the wonderful news himself. Now it's not hard to assume that those waiting for Hotline Miami 2 have already played the first one, but there are some new things to check out in this new release.

"The team didn’t want to tamper with the perfection that is Hotline Miami for the latest release, but there were certainly some fun new options that were only possible on PS4," Parker says. "Gamers can now use DualShock 4′s touch pad to look around and lock on enemies, and actually shake the controller itself to perform execution moves when you have an enemy pinned on the ground. And to take the violence to the next level, the sounds of those same execution moves are amplified through the speaker on the DualShock 4 itself. Ouch."

The best part of this announcement? Hotline Miami is Cross-Play, so if you own the game on PS3 or the Vita, you can download it on PS4 at no charge. Thanks, Devolver!

Hotline Miami launches on PlayStation 4 on Aug. 19, and Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number is due on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC later this year.
