Ruffian Games, which cut its teeth developing Crackdown 2 for the Xbox 360 and collaborated on Halo: Spartan Assault for Xbox One, is making its debut on the PlayStation 4 with Hollowpoint, as announced at the Sony Gamescom 2014 press conference earlier today.

Hollowpoint and Ruffian Games come to PS4 by way of a partnership with Paradox Interactive, a PC-focused developers that announced a partnership with Sony at E3 to publish for the PlayStation 4. Hollowpoint is a "a highly tactical, four player co-operative action game" --according to Ruffian creative director Billy Thomson on the PlayStation Blog -- "featuring a blend of fast paced 2D platform shooter gameplay – directional aiming – with precision based 3D shooter gameplay – pin point reticle aiming."

In the world of Hollowpoint, mega corporations hire "Organizations" to help them engage in corporate warfare, and the player's goal is to help build their Organization into the biggest and best in the world. Players will accept missions in order to gain XP and Credits, but some missions are so dangerous that rival Organizations may have to team up in order to conquer them. According to Thomson, "the game is built around a tight gameplay loop – Play. Earn. Purchase. Upgrade. Progress."

With multiple skill trees to pursue and plenty of action to be found, Hollowpoint looks like it could be a fun new shooter when it launches on PlayStation 4.
