A new behind-the-scenes video for Hohokum has been released, along with its release date for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.

Ricky Haggett, Designer and Co-Founder of Honeyslug, has posted on the PlayStation Blog, letting everyone know about the Aug. 12 release date for Hohokum. He also takes us behind the scenes of the game design of the title with a new, five-minute video.

"Hohokum is game about exploring a world that doesn't explain itself," said Haggett in the video. The game has taken Honeyslug years to develop, starting back in 2008. The title started life as a side-project and was meant to evoke "a sense of free-form play." At that point, there was no clear mechanical "hook." But then the team had an epiphany when they realized that it was the Long Mover's ability to fly around freely that made the game fun.

In the video, you can see how they've made all of the interactions between the Long Mover and the environments in Hohokum all make sense. Since your interactions with the the world are fostered by exploration, the more you wander, the more you'll be able to see how everything can be manipulated in different ways.

To boil it all down, the best part of Hohokum is just flying around as the Long Mover and experiencing the world around you. Look forward to it on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita on Aug. 12.
