While some of us have been dueling in Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft for PC and iPad, most players will have to wait until early 2015 to play on their Droid or iPhone.

Blizzard has provided an update on the development of the Android and iPhone versions of Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft. The company recently celebrated the benchmark of Hearthstone reaching over 20 million players throughout the world on the iPad, PC and Windows 8 Touch formats. We can expect Hearthstone to launch on Android tablets by the end of the year. Unfortunately, optimizing the Hearthstone experience for a smooth transition to the smaller screens of smartphones is proving to be a bit more difficult. As a result, Blizzard is taking its time in order to get the pocket version of Hearthstone just right.

Blizzard said the following in terms of Hearthstone's portable release:

"We’re also close to having Hearthstone out to our iPhone and Android phone users, but it’s become clear that we need a little more time to get that version right. While we have a build up and running internally, it needs a bit more work, and we don’t feel like we’ll be ready to share it with you until early next year."

We have a feeling Blizzard will announce a release date for the iPhone and Android phone versions of Hearthstone at BlizzCon 2014, which starts on Nov. 7. We can also expect to learn more about the game's upcoming expansion during BlizzCon as well.

The fight for Hearthstone can be a violent one:
