Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft Lays Down Some Cards and Art
Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft is Blizzard’s upcoming title based on its trading card game. And as with any TCG, the art is a huge part of the experience, even prompting non-players to collect cards just for the images alone. Well, here’s some of the art you’ll find in the game when it’s released!
The free-to-play game will go into beta this summer and let players sink their teeth into the virtual card madness, but for now here is a slew of artwork and examples of cards that we’ll see in the game.
If you’re a fan of the old Warcraft strategy games, or the World of Warcraft multiplayer online role-playing game, you might recognize a lot of these characters. There are heavy hitters from the Alliance like Jaina Proudmoore, the mage, and Malfurion Stormrage, the druid. And then some of the badasses from the Horde, which include Thrall, the shaman, and Valeera Sanguinar, the rogue.
There’s also a video below showing Blizzard’s Chris Metzen and the small team that created Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, giving us an inside look on what went into the game’s development. We learn about how Magic the Gathering was a huge influence on the team, since they all grew up playing it back when the TCG exploded, and find out a bit about how the game will work.
View the video and the art below and let us know if they have you itching to tear open some virtual packs when the game comes out for tablet, Mac, and PC! They said that the release date would be soon, but not “Blizzard soon,” so let’s look forward to a 2013 release!
