We have learned all kinds of new details about Halo 5: Guardians, including the return of Nathan Fillion as ODST Gunnery Sergeant Edward Buck.

Game Informer's July issue provides all kinds of new details about Halo 5: Guardians. In particular, we see that Master Chief has rallied the expert Spartan Blue Team to his cause. These Spartans will be at Chief's side while playing the game's single-player campaign, but can also join in for four-player online/local co-op. Halo's expanded universe reveals that the Blue Team consists of Kelly, Linda and Fred, who were all turned into Spartan super soldiers alongside John-117. For some reason, Chief turned his back on Earth's special forces, likely to focus on destroying the Didact's incoming forces. Blue Team will be at his side and take commands during single-player. With Chief likely mourning the loss of Cortana, it's nice to see that he isn't alone in the universe.

Opposing Master Chief and Blue Team is Spartan Agent James Locke. Locke enlists Fireteam Osiris, his own Spartan team, to help apprehend/kill Blue Team and Master Chief. Based on Game Informer's coverage trailer (featured above), it looks like one of the members of Fireteam Osiris will be ODST hero Edward Buck. Returning to provide his voice and likeness for Buck is Nathan Fillion of Firefly and Castle fame. After watching Halo: Nightfall, we can't wait to see what happens when James and John finally meet.

Halo 5: Guardians will be launching on Oct. 27 for Xbox One.
