Don't write off a potential Gears of War feature film just yet, as producer Scott Stuber (Battleship, Role Models) has stepped in to help get the project off the ground.

According to Variety, Stuber is coming on board to help develop a script with Epic Games. No actual writer, director, or stars are attached as of yet, but Stuber does have a long history of producing Vince Vaughn films (Couples Retreat, The Internship, The Break-Up), so fingers crossed for that Gears of War buddy comedy with Owen Wilson. Maybe if they're lucky, they can get Paul Rudd and Craig Robinson, too.

Previously, New Line had the rights, but the company let those run out after some creative differences with Epic Games led to no movement on the production. Most of the big budget movie adaptations have fallen short as of late, with Halo and BioShock films abandoned despite the built-in audience and concepts. Stuber and Epic clearly hope to still get some mileage out of the Gears franchise.

It'll likely be some time until there's any more movement on the picture, but you can help us pass the time by letting us know who you think should write, direct, and star in the Gears of War movie in the comments.
