When people think of the biggest gaming industry events they normally thing of E3, but GDC is shaping up to give the big E a run for its money.

GDC 2013 just wrapped up with a ton of news and new previews leading from the San Francisco convention’s booths. According to Destructoid, GDC posted record numbers this year, with over 23,000 industry professionals attending. That breaks all of GDC's previous records. To compare, E3 last year attracted 46,000 professionals, and its attendance was down over the previous year.

Following the successful show, the dates for 2014’s GDC were announced. The conference will return to the Moscone Convention Center in downtown San Francisco next year and will run from Monday, March 17th to Friday, March 21st. Next year will be remarkably different from this one as all the new consoles are set to be released by then. It will be quite the look into where gaming is going in the next-generation.
