It's been a while since we've heard about PlayJam's GameStick, the Kickstarter-funded portable Android device. Now a prototype for the device has just been shown at GDC, prompting some more excitement from the rest of us.

The GameStick event was held for the press, developers, and investors yesterday, with the purpose of showing off some prototype units and demoing how the device will work. Launch titles like Shadowgun and Smash Cops will come pre-installed on the GameStick, meaning that this thing will be ready to play right out of the box. Instant gratification is a very good thing indeed.

“We are thrilled to have some phenomenal titles to showcase what GameStick is all about - amazing games“ says Charles Tigges, CCO at PlayJam. "I am delighted to see many of the top selling iOS and Android titles now finding their natural home on the big screen through GameStick. Stay tuned for more exciting announcements of new games coming to the platform ”

The prototypes that they showed off will soon be coming to Kickstarter backers, but you can still pre-order your own GameStick and controller for $79 by going to the official site.

Let us know if you're going to get one of these ultra-portable gaming devices!
