Games Done Quick Doing Live Speedruns for Charity
This marathon is back to fundraise for charity by speedrunning its way through some of our favorite games of all time.
Games Done Quick has recently started its bi-annual speedrun marathon. Earlier this year, the group was able to raise over $1 million for charity and hopes to break its previous record yet again. This new lineup will feature some of the best players in the world playing the games they specialize in as fast as they can. This summer, Games Done Quick is fundraising for the Medecins Sans Frontieres charity, also known as Doctors Without Borders.
This week-long event will run all the way through Sunday, June 29, ending with a speedrun of Final Fantasy VI. Other games include Super Metroid, Quake, Turtles in Time, Ultimate Doom, nearly every major entry of the Super Mario Bros. series and dozens of other classics.
Games Done Quick is also hosting its own Humble Bundle, offering nine indie titles (including Gunpoint and Guacamelee) for just $25 with 100% of its proceeds going to Doctors Without Borders. If you’d like to pledge your support, whether it’s just $1 or $100, please check the marathon and stream’s official website..
