As part of SCE Japan Press Conference 2013, it was announced the PlayStation 4 beta test for Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn will begin when the PlayStation 4 launches on Feb. 22, 2014.

But what's more is that current players who have begun their Final Fantasy 14 journeys on PlayStation 3 will be allowed to transfer their data to the PlayStation 4 version of the game in order to participate in the beta. This transfer will be available for free and allow players to continue their quests on the next-gen console.

The transfer isn't limited to the beta test either, meaning that players will be able to download the full game free of charge and can transfer their character data once the service goes live on PlayStation 4.

Joystiq also reported Square Enix Europe stated Feb. 22, 2014 as the date when beta testing goes live, which means that the beta might launch globally. We'll update you on this story as more information is made available.
