The first in a series of trailers for FIFA 15 has been released. This video focuses on the upcoming soccer title’s graphics, and it does not disappoint.

Right off the bat, EA impresses viewers with a look at facial modelling. The power found in new-gen systems will allow FIFA 15’s characters to look more lifelike than ever before, and the overhauled lighting system adds an incredibly convincing sense of depth to players’ faces. A quick comparison between FIFA 15’s re-creation of U.S. forward Clint Dempsey and the real-world player shows just how convincing the game’s visuals will be. Players even breathe realistically in FIFA 15, adding another layer of realism to the game. Kits, or uniforms, move independent of the player model, and become stained with grass and dirt as the game progresses. EA also touts the way players’ hair moves, but the example shown was somewhat disappointing in comparison with the rest of the video.

In addition to the players, FIFA 15 has amped up presentation on the stadiums and pitches, creating environments that mimic real-world soccer matches. Ninety minutes of back and forth play can wreak havoc on a pitch (field), and FIFA 15 will emulate that with grass that can be kicked up by tackles and boots, and deteriorates overall as the game goes on. Matches in the rain will see water spray from the pitch as players plant their feet, and, for the first time in the series, stadiums will include animated LED advertising boards as well as corner flags and goals that react to impacts from the ball.

This is the first of at least three gameplay videos for FIFA 15. Where this one spotlighted the game’s graphics, the next two will focus on emotion and intensity, and player control. With the World Cup in full swing, gamers are at their peak of excitement for a new soccer title. This trailer indicates that FIFA 15 will satisfy those fans with incredible visuals and presentation when it is released on Sept. 23 for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.
