EA has announced that a new Peggle title is on the way. Could it be the third main entry of the series?

Polygon reports that PopCap Games is getting its colored jewels lined up for a new entry of the Peggle series. Andrew Wilson, the CEO of Electronic Arts, made this announcement during a meeting with company investors. Unfortunately, not many other details were announced in regard to its release. PopCap Games is mostly known for its Bejeweled and the widely popular Plants vs. Zombies series.

“A much-anticipated new Peggle game from PopCap is moving through a test period in preparation for launch,” said Wilson.

Polygon mentions that this new Peggle title could be the free-to-play version of the original mobile version of the first game, which EA was testing overseas on the App Store last spring. Nevertheless, we’ll still have our fingers crossed for Peggle 3.
