EA has undergone yet another round of layoffs, this time at EA Hyderabad in India and Playfish in London, the studio behind the recently canceled The Sims Social, SimCity Social, and Pet Society.

According to Gamespot, EA has cut nearly 50 jobs at Hyderabad and an unspecified number of jobs at Playfish. EA has confirmed that both of these studios are undergoing layoffs, though they would not provide specific details on who is being laid off and why.

EA has gone on record saying that it is looking to streamline its business operations for the new console generation, and it is very likely that these layoffs are all part of that streamlining process. However, at this point the game giant has lost literally hundreds of jobs via its layoffs. One has to wonder whether or not cutting staff so greatly is a good plan for dealing with with new architecture on the horizon.
