Remember E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial? That cute alien who loved Reese's Pieces and made awesome landline phones that could call into outer space? 30 years later he's back, and he's chilling at home in his new iOS game, E.T.: The Green Planet.

E.T.: The Green Planet picks up where the end of the movie left off. After realizing what a dump Earth was, E.T. bailed and headed back to his home planet. But what happened to him after that? We all know the experience traumatized the little girl so badly that she grew up into a life of alcohol and drugs, and the boy could only find minimal work as a supporting actor. But what happened to E.T.?

There was a book called E.T.: The Book of the Green Planet, about E.T.'s life at home, while Elliott noticed those icky girls and turned into a big, giant jerk. But the sequel book was never made into a movie.

Thanks to the magic of mobile gaming, Chillingo is celebrating 30 years of E.T. with their new title. Now you can hang out on E.T.'s home planet in this neat looking farming game. You'll grow alien plants, cross breed seeds, and make sure everything is growing as it should to keep your planet from dying. (Hopefully E.T. doesn't have to dig up those 2600 Atari cartridges to save his planet).

E.T. will also uncover film artifacts during the game, which he'll use to put together a device capable of communicating with Earth. Maybe he'll be calling to check up on Elliott and Gertie?

Check out these exclusive screenshots from Kotaku, who also has a trailer. E.T.: The Green Planet will phone home to the App Store on October 9th, the same day as the 30th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray. Go E.T.!
