The Kickstarter campaign for Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues received a big boost today with the signing of Dragonlance author Tracy Hickman, who will serve as the game's lead story designer.

Hickman's prolific career includes penning over 50 books, including Dragonlance Chronicles, Rose of the Prophet, and The Immortals. The game is being developed by Richard Garriott, best known for creating the Ultima computer game series.

In the Kickstarter promotion video, Hickman talks about being a fan of Ultima, and he's urging fans to back Shroud of the Avatar, "in creating and pioneering a new way of experience story in game, because after all, Richard knows adventure."

To date, the Kickstarter campaign has collected over $910,000 in pledges, and the title is easily on pace to reach its $1 million goal by April 7th.

Does the Tracy Hickman and Richard Garriott collaboration make Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues even more enticing? Is Garriott's RPG PC aesthetic still a perfect fit for today's gaming wold? Feel free to comment below!
