5th Cell's Scribblenauts series has been a source of bonafide entertainment since its first entry, but to this point has been strictly free of licensed materials for its players to use. Now, new rumors suggest not only is there a new Scribblenauts game in the works, but that it will feature the heroes and villains of DC Comics.

According to sources close to the game's development speaking to IGN, 5th Cell's next Scribblenauts (at one point known as Scribblenauts Unmasked), will be coming to the PC, Wii U, and 3DS. The sequel will feature fully-licensed characters and locations from the DC Universe including Wayne Manor, the Batcave, Batman, Robin, Killer Croc, and more.

5th Cell was originally planning to unveil the game at E3 2013, but the same sources said this DC-centric Scribblenauts was undergoing some changes. Whether those adjustments to the game will allow it to be ready in time for E3 remains to be seen. That said, a DC Universe game that requires an insane amount of creativity in puzzle-solving from its players sounds right up our alley. Hopefully these rumors pan out.

What do you think of the news? Will this get you to check out a Scribblenauts game for the first time, or are you even more excited for a new entry?
