Capcom's got a winning formula with their series of crossover fighting games. Marvel vs. Capcom, SNK vs. Capcom, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, Street Fighter X Tekken ... crossover fighting games make for big fun for everyone. You don't have to worry about convoluted stories as to how these universes get crossed, or how the characters meet. All the player needs is a character select screen and a grab-bag of his or her favorites from each universe. It's clear that Capcom's crossover series will be going strong for many years to come, which begs the question: outside of mainstays like the Marvel vs. Capcom series, which franchise should Capcom duke it out against next? Using some extremely scientific methodology we've devised a list of 10 Crazy Capcom Crossovers.

    Sega

It's easy to see why Sega would be a solid choice for a Capcom crossover game. They've existed since before the console wars of old, and have quite the gallery of hallowed heroes for players to choose from. Plus their characters are weird enough that it gives a nice variety to their potential roster.
Sample cast: Sonic the Hedgehog, Bayonetta, Ryo Hazuki, Akira Yuki, Axel, Ulala
Most overpowered character: Bayonetta. With her shape-shifting hair and grimoire of witchy magicks to choose from, Bayonetta's status as a top-tier character is a given. Expect to hear her purring catch phrases in tournaments for years to come.
Weakest, most bottom-tier character: Gilius Thunderhead. He's too short, too slow, and too hairy to be anything other than cannon fodder, although that won't stop plenty of players from choosing this beloved dwarf for their team.

    The Incredible World of DiC

Some of you may read the name of this company and scratch your head. Believe me, even if you don't know DiC's name off-hand, you know their work. Much of your childhood was likely shaped around the cartoon characters they brought to your screen, and without them, Saturday mornings would have been endless loops of Power Rangers reruns and Sesame Street.
Sample cast: The Real Ghostbusters, The Care Bears, Carmen Sandiego, Bill and Ted, Sailor Moon
Most overpowered character: Inspector Gadget. Spencer's bionic arm has nothing on a man with a bionic body. Capcom had to program in seven super moves to account for the ridiculous number of gadgets crammed into the good Inspector. He's got reach, speed, and unpredictability, three very powerful factors in any fighting game character. Players would probably get mad about how good he is if it wasn't for the fact that he's just so damn cheery.
Weakest, most bottom-tier character: Paddington Bear. He's a teddy bear in a raincoat and waders. Really, what chance did he stand against a team of psychologists armed with nuclear-powered ghostbusting guns, or magical girls with laserfied moon tiaras?

    Blizzard Entertainment

Blizzard may not have been around as long as some of the other entries on this 10 Crazy Capcom Crossovers list, but that doesn't mean that their contributions to the pop culture landscape are any less impressive. Blizzard's big three franchises, Warcraft, Starcraft, and Diablo, changed the face of real-time strategy gaming, MMOs, and dungeon crawling games for all eternity.
Sample cast: Arthas, Jim Raynor, Jaina Proudmoore, Diablo, Sylvanas Windrunner, Thrall, Lyndon the Scoundrel, The Necromancer, Zeratul, SCV
Most overpowered character: Kerrigan. The Queen of Blades' power is pretty impressive on her own. She's fast on her feet, and knows how to use some of her Ghost training to bust out a sniper rifle and go stealth if need be. Plus, her level three attack where she summons an ultralisk is so brutally powerful it's hard to believe Capcom would've allowed it in the game.
Weakest, most bottom-tier character: Deckard Cain. Being an exposition machine is an important role for an NPC, but when you're a ninety-year-old man in a fighting game you're not going to win any rounds by talking your opponents to death. Well, except for Deckard Cain's level three attack, Stay A While and Listen, where he literally talks so long that his opponent's health drops to critical levels.

    Square Enix

Final Fantasy. Dragon Warrior. Chocobos and slimes. Swords and sorcery. For a long time Squaresoft and Enix had the market cornered on fantasy; after the two powerhouses combined to form one supercompany, their success in that realm has been mixed. However, they've expanded their repertoire to include more than experience points and limit breaks, with fantastic action games and puzzlers like Tomb Raider, Just Cause 2 and Quantum Conundrum.
Sample cast: Cloud Strike, Terra Branford, Rico Rodriguez, Lara Croft (classic), Lara Croft (modern), Sora, Neku, Mog
Most overpowered character: Professor Quadwrangle. Dude can change his opponent's chronal frequency, density, and personal gravity with the touch of a button. He's so overpowered he's banned from every fighting game tournament in the world, and illegal in seven states.
Weakest, most bottom-tier character: Ultros. Sure, this octopus has great reach, and can combo for days with his many arms, but he can't move out of water!

    DC Comics

This one's so obvious you'll probably smack yourself for not thinking of it sooner. The Marvel Comics universe has already had a crack at Capcom, why not let their biggest friend and rival, DC Comics, have a crack at it?
Sample cast: Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Spoiler, Larfleeze, The Joker, Swamp Thing, Cyborg, Element Girl, Black Adam,
Most overpowered character: Krypto the Superdog. All of Superman's powers, 1/6 his size, and he's a doggy.
Weakest, most bottom-tier character: '90s Aquaman. Oddly enough, Capcom decided not to include the awesome modern rendition of Aquaman, but rather, his scraggly-faced, hook-handed '90s version, complete with self-loathing and general uselessness.

    Nickelodeon

More cartoons, you ask? Hey, Capcom faced off against Tatsunoko, and they are to Japan what Nickelodeon or The Incredible World of DiC are for the U.S., so this kind of thing has precedent.
Sample cast: Doug, Ren and Stimpy, Korra, Sokka, Toph, Kottara, Zuko, SpongeBob Squarepants, The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2013), Invader Zim, and Tommy, Chuckie, Phil and Lil all piloting a giant, mechanical Reptar.
Most overpowered character: Aang. Aang's fast, he's versatile, he can control every freaking element, and he can tap into the Avatar State to deliver powerful punishment courtesy of several thousand years worth of ancestral element-bending experience.
Weakest, most bottom-tier character: Angelica's doll, Cynthia. Angelica's only appearance in this game is when she wanders off and forgets Cynthia during her pre-fight introduction scene. Cynthia can't block, has no super moves, and her only special attack is called ennui, where the horror and boredom of existence emanates from her burdened soul. It doesn't do anything but subtract from Cynthia's super meter.

    Konami

Another company that's been producing legendary video games since video games existed, Konami's time for a crossover fighting game is now. Metal Gear Solid is as hot as ever, and their Castlevania games still have an impressive hold over the handheld market. Plus, that Katamari Damacy theme is so damn catchy it could probably start its own cult.
Sample cast: The Prince of the Cosmos, Solid Snake, Alucard, Simon Belmont, Bill and Lance, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ('90s), Dracula, Shanoa, Meryl, Revolver Ocelot
Most overpowered character: Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Raiden. This long-haired cyborg sonofagun can cut an android in half, rip out his spine, and kick his torso into meaty bits all before the blood has had time to hit the ground.
Weakest, most bottom-tier character: Metal Gear Solid 2 Raiden. This long-haired whiny sonofawimp spends most of his time bemoaning his fate and waxing philosophic via Codec, which will leave players wishing they could play as someone a bit more solid. Can we cut him out completely from our list of 10 Crazy Capcom Crossovers?

    Nintendo

With the Super Smash Bros franchise coming around every few years, Nintendo's already got their own in-house crossover covered. But, dear reader, imagine battling it out with some of the Nintendo Entertainment System's greatest heroes! Mega Man, Mario, Super Joe, Link, Samus, and more! Fans keep crying out for Capcom heroes like Mega Man to be included in the next Smash Bros., but if Nintendo won't bring Mega Man to them, Capcom should bring Nintendo to Mega Man.
Sample cast: Mario, Link, Samus, Donkey Kong, Captain Olimar, Ash Ketchum, Kirby
Most overpowered character: Mario. The M-man can summon a constant barrage of powerups, which gives him a nigh-infinite moveset. He can turn to metal, fly, shoot fire, shoot ice, turn to stone, turn invisible, summon clouds, become a bee, and teleport around the stage using warp pipes. He's so unbalanced it's a wonder he can walk straight.
Weakest, most bottom-tier character: Jigglypuff. Jigglypuff's squishy body and slow moves make her a liability in Super Smash Bros, and in Capcom vs. Nintendo, she's no better. Her best hope is to sing her opponent to sleep and then pummel them with gentle blows until they lapse into a deep nap and make her the winner via timeout.

    Kellog's and Post Cereal

Cereal mascots may seem like an odd choice for a crossover fighting game, but that's all the more reason to do it! We're used to seeing these sugary beasts promoting all sorts of saccharine confections, but how much fun would it be to play as Count Chocula and drain the chocolate from the living? Or how about smacking the Honey Smack's frog right across his smarmy frog lips?
Sample cast: Captain Crunch, Lucky the Leprechaun, Toucan Sam, Tony the Tiger, Chef Wendell, Rustled Jimmies the Gorilla
Most overpowered character: Tony the Tiger. Most cereal mascots have a gimmick. Lucky's always fleeing from kids who want his Lucky Charms. Toucan Sam has to go around smelling stuff all the time. Tony the Tiger's gimmick? Being kickass. Dude's got so much vigor that he makes other people get pumped, and, in a fighting game, that translates to the dude being a mix of Sagat, Akuma, Sol Badguy, and seven essential nutrients.
Weakest, most bottom-tier character: Trix Rabbit. This poor bastard's too addicted to Trix to do anything other than flail around and demand to get high off of its multi-colored goodness.

    Disney

Disney's line of intellectual properties is so fertile that including them in our 10 Crazy Capcom Crossovers list almost feels like cheating. Sure, they've got every Disney movie, cartoon, and TV show ever made, but there's also Pixar, The Muppets, Star Wars, and, oh yeah, the Marvel Universe.
Sample cast: Spider-Man, Wall-E, Tron, Mickey Mouse, Luke Skywalker, Wolverine, Merida, Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Boba Fett.
Most overpowered character: It's a tie between Rinzler and Doctor Teeth and the Electric Mayhem. Rinzler's blazingly quick digital moves and mix-ups make it nearly impossible for his opponents to defend against him. Doctor Teeth and the Electric Mayhem, however, have an element of absolute chaos that makes them a blast to play and an even bigger blast to watch. Zoot's saxophone shoots musical notes. Doctor Teeth's keyboard can drop from off-screen and flatten his foes. Animal will tear your freaking face off. Plus they have the only level five super move in the game, Sweet Tooth Jam, which is inescapable and instantly defeats any character with its sweet, sweet sounds.
Weakest, most bottom-tier character: The Gnome-Mobile featuring Ed Wynn. An RV full of gnomes and an effeminate, squeaky-voiced man sure seemed like a great idea for a fighting game character, right? Well, when it comes to facing off against Jedi knights and superheroes it turns out that Ed Wynn and his band of merry gnomes just don't have what it takes.
