The creative minds behind the excellent downloadable game Child of Light impressed the bigwigs at Ubisoft so much, they've been turned into one of the core teams at Ubisoft Montreal and they're pursuing a brand new project.

CVG reports that the team, headed by creative director Patrick Plourde of Assassin's Creed Brotherhood and Far Cry 3 acclaim, has been given free reign to make another original game after Child of Light performed well above expectations. "We are super happy with Child of Light. The team did a good job and the game had a great reception," Ubisoft Montreal VP of Creative Lionel Raynaud told CVG. "We were proud to deliver something new and unique - a lot of people were surprised that Montreal was delivering this kind of game."

We couldn't be happier about this team getting another crack at something new, as Child of Light was such a refreshing turn from what Ubisoft usually puts out that we're ready for the next big departure. If only other big time publishers would take risks like Child of Light once in a while, perhaps we'd be seeing a more varied selection in AAA titles. For now, all we can do is see what this new team is capable of and hope that it's another pleasant surprise.
