The company that brought us games like Cave Story, NightSky, and VVVVVV are teaming up with indie developer Pelikan13 on its Kickstarter project to bring us a game called The 90's Arcade Racer.

The game is supposed to evoke the classic SEGA arcade racing games of the '90s, as the name suggests, and will be available on the Wii U, Windows PCs, Linux, Android, Mac, and iOS.

Tyrone Rodriguez from Nicalis gives an intro on the project page and tells us that he's had a long history with arcade racers, having worked on The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, and having spent hours of his youth playing Scud Race, Daytona USA, and Indy 500.

The 90's Arcade Racer itself will feature Arcade and Championship modes. It promises simple gameplay, letting you select your car and track, then race against the clock and the AI opponents.

You can check out the project here, and then look forward to its release, since it's already exceeded the funding goal. As of this writing, a total of £12,838 has been pledge, which is just above its £10,000 goal. This puts it at about $20,121, meaning that we should expect the release in the near future!

Watch the video below and let us know what you think about this game and whether or not you're a fan of '90s-style arcade racing games!
