Today’s Jam Game Showcase may stretch the definition of “fan game”, but still deserves to be showcased nonetheless. It was developed as part of Double Fine’s Amnesia Fortnight Game Jam. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the idea of a Game Jam, it basically asks participants to build a low tech video game in a very short period of time. You may be familiar with many Game Jam projects that have made their way onto the front page of Newgrounds.com and other similar sites.
If you haven't noticed already, Portal has been a monumental impact on the video game scene. Unless you live in a cave with no contact to the outside world, you've heard about Portal at least once in your lifetime. It's not easy for the new generation of gaming to come out with something as unique and original as these developers did. While we can sit and awe over the success of it, it's even more exciting to know its roots. Sit back and get inspired with this edition of In the Making: Portal.
Due out sometime in 2014, Daylight puts players smack dab in the middle of a horrifying mystery when they awaken in a closed down hospital with nothing but their wits to aid them. While we still don't know a whole lot about Daylight's story or gameplay, these latest images give us a better idea of the shadowy world in which we'll be trying to survive.
It's a sad day when any developer has to close up shop, but it's particularly devastating to learn such news has happened just ahead of the holidays. Such is the case with developers of BloodRayne and more recently, The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, Terminal Reality.
