Austin, TX. is known for its hip restaurants, cool shopping areas and the popular SXSW film and music festival. But did you know it's also known for its awesome arcade? This week's Arcade Spotlight shines a light on one of the many great treasures to be found in Austin -- Pinballz Arcade.
The Arcade Spotlight feature we run every week doesn't just focus on the big arcades or the smaller mom and pop ones. Sometimes we go outside the norm and check out places like Marvin’s Marvelous Mechanical Museum, and this week spotlight -- the Musée Mécanique in San Francisco, CA.
When I was a kid my family always went to Shakey's Pizza in San Jose, California. I loved going there but not for the pizza. For the video games they had in the back. They didn't have many, but I always headed back there to play Asteroids or Missile Command. Besides Chuck E. Cheese, there weren't too many pizza parlors that had arcades, and today they're practically non-existent. Unless you happen to live in Omaha, NE. Check out this cool Arcade Spotlight!
I love writing the Arcade Sushi Arcade Spotlight articles because I'm beginning to have faith that the arcade is starting to make a comeback! More and more little arcades are popping up everywhere and places like 1984 Arcade in Springfield, MO. make me want to take a road trip and check them out! Now someone tell my boss I'm not going to be around for a while...
We love keeping track of everything arcade related here at, uh, Arcade Sushi. Makes sense, right? We wouldn't be living up to our name if we did not. Click through to check it out and learn more about the history of SEGA racing arcade games!
Never been to Tennessee or Alabama? Well, now you've got an excuse to go there because they've got some sweet arcades under the Game Galaxy Arcade banner! Take a look at this edition of Arcade Spotlight.
We've covered quite a few arcades around the country with our Arcade Spotlight installments, but we have yet to head down to The Sunshine State, where they not only have babes in bikinis and Disneyworld, but also some sweet arcades!
