This week's Nintendo Direct brought with it a brand new trailer for the upcoming Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, and Captain Toad and his trusty pal Toadette seem to have their work cut out for them.

The trailer gives us 70 different mini-scenes featuring the intrepid explorers, including many of the different enemies they'll be facing as they look for the big score. We see magic crows, giant fire-breathing dragons, and more in a variety of different areas. There's a lot of game to explore here it seems, and all from a tiny mini-game from the last major Mario release.

We weren't sure just how much Nintendo could flesh out the Captain Toad missions into a full game, but color us impressed. We get the feeling this is the type of game that we don't really think about, but when we get it into our hands we won't be able to stop playing it. Best of all, it's the first game ever to give Toad top billing, and that's just way overdue. Godspeed, Captain Toad, and may we enjoy helping you to find treasure in just a few short weeks.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker launches Dec. 5 exclusively for Wii U.
