As reported by Joystiq, the 2D strategy game Cannon Brawl is hitting Steam this June. An Xbox version is also in the offing for developer Turtle Sandbox Games.

Created in 2011, the company was formed by Peter Angstadt and Theresa Duringer after winning the Activision Independent Games Competition with their title Dstroyd. The game eventually evolved into Cannon Brawl, which players can actually play free under its alpha demo. Based out in Oakland, Ca., the company's goals are to, "inspire thought and spark imagination."

Building your own weapons systems from an airship as you shower your enemies with destruction looks pretty cool, at least from the weapons and defenses teaser video below.

Tell us if watching the video sparks your imagination. Winning a competition has to account for something, and we're hoping this brawl turns into a pure knockout.
