Washington National's rookie sensation Bryce Harper was announced as a potential cover athlete for Sony's upcoming MLB: The Show 13.

Kotaku broke the news on Wednesday, revealing not just Harper's potential cover star status, but also that Sony will be introducing more candidates for fans to vote on in the coming months. Harper can now add this accolade to a what could be a lengthy list started with his 2012 NL Rookie of the Year trophy. "When you're younger, you always dream of being in a video game, or being on the cover," Harper said during a phone interview with Kotaku. "Winning a World Series would be the top-notch goal, but off the field, this is something very cool."

Sony San Diego's community manager Ramone Russell also detailed a few of the new changes coming to The Show in 2013. A "Beginner Mode" will be included, which will focus primarily on just hitting and pitching, and teach newcomers the fundamentals of the game before they move up to standard difficulty. More changes will also be coming to the franchise to give the mode more depth, including better payroll management and player development.

MLB: The Show 13 is slated for a March release on both the PlayStation 3 and the PlayStation Vita.
