HeroCraft is porting the newest iteration of the game Boulder Dash to iOS devices, bringing us all some addictive digging action. What should we expect from the retro rock-dodging classic?

The sequel to the beloved gaming relic from the '80s is coming soon, courtesy of a co-publishing effort from HeroCraft and First Star Software, Inc. The game tests players' skill and dexterity as they take control of robots named Crystal and Rockford to dig underground, collect gems, and avoid being crushed by boulders. There will be four worlds to explore, new enemies to face, and teleporters to help you zip around the subterranean playgrounds.

The game has already been available for Xbox LIVE Arcade and Windows PC since July 2011, featuring updated graphics and largely unchanged gameplay.

Pavel Prokonich, CEO of HeroCraft said,

We at HeroCraft remember spending hours in front of our screens trying to escape those falling boulders and having a great time of it! We hope iOS users will enjoy digging into this amazingly fun gameplay just as millions of players before them have for close to 30 years!

Players will be able to get their hands on the action-puzzler soon for $2.99 in the App Store, though no official release date has been set. Let us know in the comments below what other addictive retro arcade games you love to play!
