Though Lucasarts is no longer in the business of making games, one of the developers final projects, the fabled Star Wars 1313, would have finally given longtime fans just what they wanted: a Boba Fett video game.

While Lucasarts went out of its way to avoid talking about the protagonist of Star Wars 1313, it was with good reason apparently. Sources close to the game's production told Kotaku the focus was repurposed more than a few times, with the final major adjustment coming just before E3 2012. That change? George Lucas stepping in, and telling the team to make the game about Boba Fett.

Some concept art of Boba Fett supposedly from Star Wars 1313 showed the infamous bounty hunter posed on a rooftop on Coruscant, with what could be a Trandoshan target tied up next to him. According to the same sources, the game was never quite what anyone wanted it to be. "They ended up with movie tech that wouldn't fit in a game, and game tech that wouldn't fit in a movie," the source told Kotaku. "1313 was always in danger of not being made."

Though there's a slight chance (one that seems to be shrinking every passing day), Star Wars 1313 could still be made, Kotaku's sources said the game was indefinitely shelved. It's a shame, but with the Star Wars movie brand coming back in a big way, perhaps Disney wanted to focus all energies there instead of giving away one of the most prized players to a video game.
