While BioWare has already committed to Mass Effect 4 taking place in an entirely different part of that universe, it seems the developer might not be done with some familiar faces from the first three games.

In a recent interview with OXM UK, several of BioWare's top developers talked a bit about the possible spin-off games they'd like to make with existing Mass Effect characters.

"There's so much that could be told in the Mass Effect universe," said series executive producer Casey Hudson, . "It'd be cool to do something completely unrelated to the larger storyline, like a story about a private investigator on the Citadel. Or maybe something detailing Garrus' time in C-Sec."

Level designer Dusty Everman also wants to see Garrus get his proper due. "While being one of Shepard's most loyal friends, Garrus has also had some of the most driven personal goals," Everman added. "He's a hero in his own right, as Archangel and beyond. Who wouldn't want to see the further adventures of the bold, charming Garrus Valkarian (there's a lot of guns out there to calibrate)."

Other members of the team hoped to return to characters like Aria, the Illusive Man, Grunt, and Javik. Oddly enough, nobody indicated Thane as a prospective protagonist. While attentions are currently focused on the next full Mass Effect game, the team might still find time to revisit at least one of these characters eventually. We may never see Shepard again, but at least there's a chance the rest of the Normandy's crew could see their stories continue.

Which Mass Effect character would you like to see get his or her own game?
