    Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright

    Level-5

Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright is easily one of the most anticipated games to come out for the 3DS. It features two puzzle game greats working their way through their biggest mystery yet. Unfortunately, there are no plans to bring it to America, yet. However, full play throughs of the Japanese version can be found on the internet and they are incredible. Anyone who can read Japanese should import this game right away, and fans should continue to put as much pressure as possible on Level-5 to have them bring this amazing gem of a game to the States.

    Project X Zone

    Banpresto/Monolith Soft

Like Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright, Project X Zone was a game that appeared as if it was only going to get released in Japan. Then fans put so much pressure on the developers (along with some help from Namco Bandai’s Katsuhiro Harada), that we were finally promised an American release. Project X Zone is a tactical RPG that crosses over characters from Sega, Capcom, and Namco Bandai. Just more proof that Capcom will crossover with anyone who says "Yes." to them. Oh, and John McLane from Die Hard is in it. What better crossover can you get than Die-Hard?

    Marvel vs Capcom

    Capcom

Capcom will… ok, the joke isn’t funny anymore. Marvel vs Capcom is, perhaps, one of the most iconic crossover series of all time. Perhaps better titled, “The Versus Series”, Capcom started its long tradition of crossing over fighting game franchises with X-Men and Street Fighter, and it just got wonkier from there. Now saying things like, "Morrigan, Doctor Doom and Vergil can’t possibly beat Magneto, Spencer, and Sentinel," has become common practice in the fighting game community. Marvel vs Capcom 3 may be the most competitively played fighting game currently out on the market.

    Kingdom Hearts

    Square-Enix

The idea of a Square-Enix crossover with Disney may seem stupid at first, but think about it. Tales of princesses, lone heroes that need to save the world, dark powers that conspire against our heroes at every turn, and really funky hairstyles? They are practically the same thing! Kingdom Hearts became an instant classic among fans of both Disney and Square, and gamers are still patiently waiting for Kingdom Hearts 3 to come out.

    Super Smash Bros.

    Nintendo/Hal Laboratories

No one can deny that Smash Brothers is perhaps the most loved video game crossover of all time. This ingenious fighting game put all of Nintendo’s greats against each other in one gigantic brawl. Smash Brothers continues to sell Nintendo consoles to fighting game fans even to this day. It essentially created the genre of “party brawler.” It spawned the many different arguments of, “items vs no items.” It essentially created the professional/casual gamer split! It's caused controversies, inspired copy-cats, allowed independent programming teams to make fan made mods that are played at major eSports tournaments, and more. Smash Brothers Melee alone has been played for more than 10 years on the competitive circuit. Smash Bros. will always be our most loved and cherished of the 25 Best Video Game Crossovers.
