Platinum Games, the developers of Bayonetta 2, recently stated that Nintendo played an integral part in getting their game made.

Atsushi Inaba, executive director at Platinum Games, has gone on to say that Nintendo was crucial for Bayonetta 2's development. In an article on Polygon, Inaba states that Platinum sought out a partner to create the game and Nintendo answered the call. He goes on to say that the studio is, "not viewing this as a change of platform," citing Nintendo's involvement as the reason why Bayonetta 2 will be exclusive to the Wii U.

The first game was released on the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360, so this exclusivity to the Wii U might come as a shock to fans of the series who will need to buy the new console in order to continue playing as the bespectacled titular witch. No specific date has been set, but the game is due for a 2013 release.
