We hope you and your buddies are ready to play together in a whole new way, because Battlefield 4's Platoons have just gone live.

You can think of Platoons as large guilds that help you and your online buddies organize yourselves and fight together under one banner.

According to this update on the Battlefield Blog, this first iteration of Platoons will allow the following:

  • The ability to create and join a Platoon for up to 100 members.
  • Basic Platoon management such as inviting, applying, and promoting/demoting members.
  • A private and public Platoon feed, where you can communicate and coordinate.
  • A Platoon emblem and tag that all members can easily apply.
  • The ability to earn stats for your Platoon and rank it up, and see all the matches you played together.
You'll be able to create a four-character tag for your Platoon, as well as a Platoon emblem that can be updated and applied automatically for all members. You can also earn stats and ranks for your Platoon with a brand new progression system. To achieve this, you only need to play with four players from the same Platoon in the same round of Battlefield 4.
Platoons begin rolling out today, meaning you can go ahead and join one if you please, but only players with Battlefield 4 Premium and a soldier with at least rank 10 will be able to create a Platoon. The coolest part is that Platoons can encompass players across all of the platforms, so get out there and become a part of something bigger than yourself!
