An Electronic Arts blog announced that Battlefield 4, which is scheduled for release next year, is also being developed for next gen consoles.

EA Labels President Frank Gibeau divulged that 500 store managers caught a sneak peek of Battlefield 4 during a GameStop company meeting. The title was greeted with an ovation from the managers. Gibeau is enthusiastic about Battlefield 4 and said, "We've been investing and innovating on new technology for months. Console partners who have seen our early work agree. EA's next-gen software is nothing short of amazing."

Although Gibeau briefly addressed the layoffs in EA's Los Angeles and Montreal offices, he kept the blog positive, adding that the company's financial and creative investments will pay off. "We have never been more ready or more excited about what comes next," said Gibeau.

Battlefield 3 was released in October 2011, and although there are barely any details on the latest installment, developers DICE did confirm that Battlefield 4 will take place in a modern setting.
