The other spiritual successor to Mega Man, Azure Striker Gunvolt, packed a big punch in 2014 and now Inti Creates is back with a sequel.

Now that Azure Striker Gunvolt has been received extremely well for a digital-only Nintendo 3DS game, Inti Creates has decided to make the game a series and is coming out with a sequel. With 90,000 copies of the game sold within the first six months of launch, we don't really blame them. While not much is known about this sequel, Destructoid reports that Inti Creates has confirmed that Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 is coming in hot for the Nintendo 3DS. It seems that Destructoid isn't the only one excited about the information, either, because Inti Creates' website crashed from activity after announcing Gunvolt's sequel. Now that's a fan base.

One thing we do know about the game is a little teaser sketch of one of the new characters in the sequel. You can check out the picture of that below while we wait for more information on the game.

To take a trip to the past, Azure Striker Gunvolt is a platformer with gameplay similar to that of Mega Man Zero with added elements such as Gunvolt's ability to "tag" enemies and target many at once. In the game you will be transported into the future where adepts are being experimented on by the very company that seems to be keeping the world in a state of peace. As Gunvolt, you will have to take on several agents of the Sumeragi group in order to stop the madness.

For now, we'll be keeping an eye out for more information to leak about the upcoming game as we over-analyze the new character sketch.
