Atlus Melding Shin Megami Tensei and Fire Emblem on Wii U

Perhaps the strangest announcement to come from Wednesday's Nintendo Direct press conference was the merger of Atlus' Shin Megami Tensei and Nintendo's Fire Emblem franchises.

Virtually no details were given during the live stream, however, the few images shared do paint a picture of a very interesting hybrid RPG. There were characters from multiple SMT games, as well as multiple characters from various Fire Emblem titles, giving the idea that this crossover would span the entire history of both franchises.

Just what kind of gameplay we should expect from this title is a mystery, but with E3 just around the corner, we might not have to wait long for more details.
