In the interest of fairness, Assassin's Creed Unity will run at exactly the same specs on both Xbox One and PS4 in an effort to keep the experience equal on both systems.

Unity will perform at 900p resolution and 30 frames per second, a move that senior producer Vincent Pontbriand tells VideoGamer.com was made "to avoid all the debates and stuff." Pontbriand explains that they were experiencing some bottlenecking issues during development, so they decided to even everything out in order to get maximum output on both consoles.

"Technically we're CPU-bound," Pontbriand said. "The GPUs are really powerful, obviously the graphics look pretty good, but it's the CPU [that] has to process the AI, the number of NPCs we have on screen, all these systems running in parallel. We were quickly bottlenecked by that and it was a bit frustrating, because we thought that this was going to be a tenfold improvement over everything AI-wise, and we realized it was going to be pretty hard."

The decision caused such an uproar that Ubisoft had to provide a clarification to Pontbriand's comments to Kotaku: "We understand how Senior Producer Vincent Pontbriand's quotes have been misinterpreted. To set the record straight, we did not lower the specs for Assassin's Creed Unity to account for any one system over the other." The jury is still out on whether or not their statement was actually believed.

Assassin's Creed: Unity launches Nov. 11, 2014 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
