Ubisoft's flagship franchise brings its parkour and hidden blade-filled action over to the iPad and iPhone in Assassin's Creed Identity.

A new trailer for the Ubisoft's latest addition for the Assassin's Creed series has debuted. Assassin's Creed Identity marks two firsts for the time-traveling parkour series. Identity is an action-RPG hybrid and it will also be launching exclusively on the iOS format. Unfortunately, this will be the fourth time that the Assassin's Creed franchise will be returning to the Italian Renaissance. While fans of Ezio might be jumping for joy, we were hoping to pretty much never return since the series can visit any time in history and there are so many other eras we'd love to see.

Identity's controls include a combination of using tap-to-move mechanics and dual virtual sticks. There will be 16 mission types that will be randomly generated so they never feel the same as you're playing your unique character. The story missions of AC Identity will take you to the Coliseum, Venice and Florence. Of course, the history-filled lore of Italy's monuments will be explored with the game's extensive codex.

Assassin's Creed Identity will be free-to-play when it launches sometime by the end of 2014. Ubisoft already has a lot of freemium content in the works. Please note that Identity requires the iPhone 5, iPod 5, iPad 2 or higher to work properly.

A good place for an assassin to hide a body? Underneath a bent iPhone of course.
