Do like first-person survival sims? Do you like dinosaurs? Well then it sounds like Ark: Survival Evolved might be right up your alley. Don't believe us? Check out this first trailer.

That's right, in Ark the heroes are facing off against dinosaurs of all shapes and sizes are landing on a mysterious island called Ark. In the game's debut trailer alone we see a Tyrannosaurus Rex, Stegosaurus, Pterodactyls, and many many more. They won't be pushovers either, as we see plenty of (attempted) dino-kiling action going on right from the player character's eyes.

There's not just human and dinosaur conflict however, as we see humans riding atop dinosaurs both for on-foot travel and quick flight, meaning that whichever character I'm playing as has tamed a Pterodactyl to the point of flying on it, and that's just really cool. The tropical setting seems to be hiding a few secrets too, as we see a couple of odd structures dotting what otherwise looks like sandy beach and lush green flora.

This could be a really interesting title in the right hands. First the gaming industry is criminally bereft of interesting dinosaur games, so this could scratch that itch quite well. While the survival genre has plenty of competitors, the wildlife here aren't creepy supernatural enemies, they are dinosaurs. So it's got that going for it. This could be a title to watch as its launch approaches, and we'll definitely be keeping an eye on it.

Ark: Survival Evolved launches June 2 on Steam Early Access, with Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions to follow.
