Arcade Spotlight: The 1up in Denver, Colorado

Where the heck was this bar when I used to live in Denver? Now they decide to put in an awesome barcade after I move out? This week's Arcade Spotlight on The 1up could get me to pack my bags and head back to the Mile High City!

The 1up opened on Blake Street in downtown Denver on March 23rd, 2011. It's a newer arcade but it has already established itself as one of the best in the country. The 1up features over 45 classic arcade games, 15 pinball machines, three lanes of Skee-Ball and giant Jenga sets, which are a disaster waiting to happen after six shots of Jager.

The 1up has everything arcade from 720 to X-Men and their pinball collection is pretty awesome, with pins like The Addams Family, Transformers, AC/DC, Tron and more. After trying out one of their 14 beers on tap, and grabbing some food, you can take on your buddies, or challenge that hot girl standing at the bar to a game of Joust. And how much do the games cost? .25 cents for arcade machines and .50 cents for pinball machines. It's arcade discount heaven! Screw you, Dave and Busters!!

Not only is The 1up one of the coolest barcades around, but it's also host to the Kong-Off. An annual event that crowns the "Best Live" Donkey Kong player in the world.
