It's been a while since our last Arcade Spotlight, but that isn't my fault. Arcades are closing left and right and it's tough finding ones that have a decent website. Lucky for me, and for the residents of New York, there's a brand spanking new pinball place that just opened to the public!

Modern Pinball NYC came together from pinball and tournament pinball enthusiasts looking to keep the world of pinball alive. Their machines are meticulously cared for and maintained. It's a good bet you won't find a place that has better upkeep of their machines than Modern Pinball. That's because you can actually buy the machine you're playing.

Using the 'pay a feww and play' model instead of having to lug around a pocketful of quarters, patrons can use the money spent at the location towards the purchase of a pinball machine. Their rates are $7.50 for a half hour, $10 for an hour, and $20 for a day. So if there's a machine you're eyeing at their store, tally up your admission costs and use them towards taking home your own machine.

Right now they've got 30 machines in on the floor. Everything from Stern's new Metallica pin to favorites like The Addam's Family, Twilight Zone and Theatre of Magic. Each machine is in tip top shape so you won't have to worry about a flipper not responding when you hit the button. If this place opened in LA, half the machines would probably already be broken.

They don't have a lot of pictures yet, but they just opened their doors on October 28. They're going to have a tournament to benefit Food Bank For New York City on November 16, so if you're in the area stop on by. Hope you guys are a big success and we see Modern Pinballs open up in other cities!
