In case you haven't noticed, the Angry Birds empire continues to grow beyond the App Store. The past few months have seen a flurry of new games and announcements, ranging from new toys, franchise tie-ins, and TV shows. Here's another one to add to the list --  Rovio announced today that it will slingshot Angry Birds Friends from Facebook over to iOS.

With the new game, Angry Birders will be able to challenge their Facebook friends from the app, hence the name.

Rovio went through the details in an announcement earlier today:

“Pop some piggies with your friends wherever you are! Angry Birds Friends spruces up the classic Angry Birds experience with fun new social features that integrate with Facebook."

Angry Birds Friends hit Facebook back in May of 2012 and it didn't take long for it to accrue millions of downloads. According to Rovio, they now pull in about 1.2 million daily users for the Facebook game. All of this success across its multiple projects has earned the Finish company some great financial news as per its report on 2012 earnings.

There's no hard date yet for when we'll see Angry Birds Friends on iOS, but we'll be sure to keep you in the know.
