According to Polygon, TimeGate Studios, one of the many developers to work on the much maligned Aliens: Colonial Marines, has laid off a number of its employees.

According to the president of the company, Adel Chaveleh, the choice was made to help prepare the company for the next generation of gaming. He wants the company to adapt to the changing times and sometimes that means letting a few people go. Chaveleh told Polygon that, "Today, we had to make the difficult decision to let go of some great game developers. This is never easy, and we're doing all we can to assist those developers affected."

Sources close to Polygon estimated the layoffs to number around 25 people. Best of luck to those developers newly on the market and hopefully they'll be snapped up quickly by a company looking for new talent.

We can only speculate that the layoffs might be due to the poor reception of Aliens: Colonial Marines by fans and gamers everywhere. But it seems right now that other developers are laying off employees as well. Whatever it may be, we hope to see how TimeGate reestablishes itself for the upcoming era of games. Hopefully they learned a little from Colonial Marines.
