Update: Sega has officially announced Creative Assembly's Alien: Isolation for a release in the second half of 2014. Isolation will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. We've also added the debut trailer.

Sega and Creative Assembly still haven't budged on whether or not Alien: Isolation is definitely coming, but that hasn't stopped Microsoft from releasing new information and screenshots via the Xbox Live Marketplace. Whoops.

Originally reported back in October, Alien: Isolation was believed to be Sega's next entry in the Aliens video game franchise. Developed by Creative Assembly, Isolation would put players in the shoes of Ellen Ripley's daughter Amanda as she tried to investigate her mother's disappearance. A few months later, new screenshots and concept art emerged, adding more flame to the fire, however both Creative Assembly and Sega remained quite silent on the matter. While everything to this point could have been construed as rumor, now that official images and descriptions have appeared on the Xbox Marketplace, it's just a matter of time until the publisher and developer break the silence.

As per the description, you will indeed be playing as Amanda Ripley in her search for the truth about Ellen's disappearance after 'Alien.' What's more it sounds like there will only be one actual Xenomorph to contend with, but you'll also have to face the panicked people of what's believed to be a space station, where much of Isolation will take place. Originally, the listing offered Isolation would feature both on and offline co-op play, and a multiplayer facet. Those items have since been removed, but all the other pertinent details remain. In fact, the only thing missing is a release window and platforms.

After the abomination that was Aliens: Colonial Marines, we're going to try not go get our hopes up too high for another entry in this franchise. However, if Creative Assembly can recreate the atmosphere of the first film and deliver a game that plays like the original Dead Space titles, we'll be eager to get our hands on Alien: Isolation.
