A Link to the Past-like Zelda Game is Coming to 3DS

Zelda 3DS

Today’s Nintendo Direct let loose with the news that a new Zelda game will be coming to the 3DS. And what’s more is that this game will take place in the same world as the famed Super Nintendo Entertainment System’s A Link to the Past.

There are scant details about whether or not this will be a sequel or a prequel (and with the Zelda timeline, anything can happen), but it will take place in the same world as A Link to the Past and feature new mechanics that take advantage of the 3DS and its capabilities.

Of note is the ability to become a 2D drawing on the wall in order to get to different parts of a room that would otherwise be inaccessible as a fleshy, 3D Link. He can even use this power to get through barred windows!

More details will be revealed later, but for now it’s slated for a Holiday 2013 release on the 3DS eShop!
