Patapon 2

Pata-pata-pata-PON! You can hear it now, can’t you? The beat stirs in your heart as you remember the drums and the chanting of the noble Patapon, as they continue their journey from the first game. Patapon 2 is one of the more unique games on the list because it’s not quite a strategy RPG and not quite a rhythm game. Instead, it is a perfect blend of the two that will keep you tapping your toes to the beat. The exhilaration of hitting Fever mode after successfully keeping the rhythm is a feeling we’ve found is only specific to this game and cannot be compared. Fight on, Patapon, fight on!

Grand Theft Auto: China Town Wars

Rockstar Leeds/Rockstar North

Though the Nintendo DS saw this game first, that doesn't stop Grand Theft Auto: China Town Wars from being one of the best titles on our list. This game marked the return to the top-down perspective of previous GTA games and gave us peeks into the crime-ridden lifestyle of Liberty City's Triads. The PSP version had some enhanced graphics and a few extra missions, so that fans of Huang Lee could continue his nefarious missions in the seedy underbelly of Liberty City.

God of War: Ghost of Sparta

God of War: Ghost of Sparta

Ready at Dawn/SCE Santa Monica Studios

Oh, Kratos, what would we do without your hyper-violent adventures in Ancient Greece? This installment of the series focused on Kratos' family and his quest to save his brother Deimos from Death's Domain and the clutches of Thanatos, God of Death. The game takes place between the events of God of War and God of War 2, fleshing out some of Kratos' personality and motivations. He's in definite need of anger management, but we can see why when the gods continually mess with the fate of those he cares for most.

We've witnessed some of the most hardened metal-heads succumb to the cuteness and absolutely addictive gameplay of LocoRoco. True story. In this adorable game, you literally rock the inhabitants' world by using the shoulder buttons to tilt the environment and send the little LocoRocos rolling along. It's colorful, it's cute, and it's one hell of a puzzler, making LocoRoco one of the very best games on our list for players of all backgrounds.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker

Kojima Productions

In Peace Walker, we followed Naked Snake, also known as Big Boss, down to Costa Rica in the '70s. The game nixes the Comrade System of Portable Ops in favor of a more traditional co-op mode, featuring a duo taking on missions. The game also borrowed some aspects of Metal Gear Solid 4, such as the awesome CQC chains that allowed you to take out a lot of enemies at once. The development team behind the game was as large as Metal Gear Solid 4's, so you know the quality was top-notch, making it the very best of the best on our list of the top 25 PSP games.
